Welcome to the website of the HDC Centre for Religious History. The HDC Centre for Religious History is the platform for research, education, and valorisation in the field of the history of religion at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

The HDC Centre for Religious History is a fusion of the Historisch Documentatiecentrum voor het Nederlandse Protestantisme (1800-heden) and the Amsterdam Centre for Religious History. 450 jaar protestantse eredienst in Dordrecht

Op 27 juli 1572 vond in Dordrecht de eerste protestantse kerkdienst plaats, geleid door Ds. Johannes Lippius in de Augustijnenkerk. Rond deze gebeurtenis organiseert de Stichting Behoud Augustijnenkerk op 17 september 2022 een symposium waar drie deskundigen de gevolgen van de transformatie duiden op zowel maatschappelijk, theologisch als liturgisch gebied.

Bouncing back : Trajecta-conference 2022

The Trajecta conference “Bouncing back: The Return of Missionaries in the Low Countries” aims to analyze how missionary history can be seen as an integral part of the religious, cultural and social history of the Low Countries. The conference is especially interested in the ways in which missionary activity affected Belgian and Dutch societies during the 19th and 20th centuries.
